geology
that's what i'm going to study. i actually studied geology, i did a year in slovakia but didn't really do it properly. not that i was getting pissed all the time or anything, but i found two jobs - one in an internet cafe, the other one teaching english - straight away and didn't go to school at all. i managed to pass my exams which was a miracle in itself, but i didn't get good marks. after a year, i moved to england, did an art history course with open university, got a good mark, started ancient greek course, fell ill and couldn't study anymore.
but geology is what i've always wanted to do, when i was at school i did really well in a geological competition and loved my rocks (or to be precise, minerals, i much more prefer minerals to rocks) ever since. my parents weren't too keen on the idea of me becoming a geologist, they would have prefered if i studied languages or management or economics. but they're happy for me at the moment, i think they're just happy that i'm even considering studying and that the uni has offered me a place. and, after all, i'm doing my spanish and i do get by in english.
so this is my second chance and i'm not going to fuck it up. i'll plan, i'll be organised, i'll make notes, i'll do all my assignements on time. i will have a geology degree before i'm 30! yes yes, i will be thin and have a degree in geology. good plans :)
last night, when i was putting the papers they sent me from uni back into their envelope, i discovered they sent me a promo cd as well. what am i like, not noticing it straight way? doofus. anyway, there are sample lectures on it and i was so surprised! all the materials are in .pdf format and even though i know you can have pictures in .pdfs, i thought it would be just plain text with some black and white diagrams. well, there's shitloads of pictures! i'm really happy because it looks so much more appealing than if it was just text, but it means we have to buy a colour laser printer when we planned to buy a monochrome one. but nevermind! we're going to save on pda anyway, because there's no way a pda would handle these kind of .pdfs so i'm not getting one anymore. it's a shame cause they're cool, but if they're no use to me then there's no point in spending money on one.
talking about spending money, i ordered some stuff from weightwatchers yesterday. i'm getting:
*a points calculator - this should help me in the shops
*two copies of the journal - even though i have points tracker online, i'd like to write stuff down so i can just flick through and see what i've been eating. and, they're half price at the moment!
*fruit bars - i love fruit bars and they're only half a point each
*caramints - i've never tried these, but they can be quite nice. they might help with assignments, i used to eat large amounts of soft mints when writing essays, they really really helped tremendously
it's the tango night today, i'm wondering what we're going to learn today. should be fun!
